The Century Park Hotel, Malate, Philippines

It is where Philippine Airlines (PAL) housed the passengers, (I was one of them) of the cancelled PR112 flight last May 16th, 2023, bound for Los Angeles from Manila for 2 nights.

It is a huge hotel as it accommodated mostly all the passengers of the cancelled flight, at least, 300 people, I would say. The check-in was very smooth and pretty quick, which helped diffused the upset and irritated guests in a timely manner, great job!

 

I already have deleted photos of the hotel room and restaurant so I used this photo of me and my cousins who came to see me, to showcase the hotel's carpeted staircase.

The room is huge with comfy beds and, with basic essentials like coffee, toothbrush, slippers and whatnot. I was in the 8th floor and I had a beautiful view from my window, I loved it.

The lobby is spacious and there is a bar and gift shops inside the hotel.

The food in their buffet restaurant which I forgot the name are appetizing and delicious, plus the servers and hosts are very pleasant. Everyone with hotel ID is welcoming, polite and with all smiles. Customer service at its best! 

I highly recommended this place!

Sahara Hotel and Casino Las Vegas, Nevada

SAHARA Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada is a sister hotel of GRAND Sierra Hotel and Casino in Reno, Nevada and being a regular customer of the latter, they sent me complimentary rooms for 3 nights which I grabbed and enjoyed early this year.

 

This hotel is not really bad! It has free parking. The rooms are neat and not over priced. The staff are nice. There are restaurants inside for the guests to eat. There is Starbucks for coffee lovers. And the apparel shop by the entrance is really affordable.

  

Hubby on the other hand, is not a fan of this hotel because of 2 reasons. The first reason is because its location is on the strip, though actually, it is a little further side of the strip already.  The second reason is that their elevators suck.. which I really agree. I am not sure if the hotel management just don't want to use other elevators or maybe the other elevators are just not functioning.  It's okay if you are not in a hurry, you know, but people are tired from their long trips or flights and they just want to get to their rooms already to rest and relax. Or, people just want to get out of the hotel to catch their flights especially in the mornings. I had to use their stairs twice because the elevators are full. I was in the 6th floor so I opted to just use the stairs and the people who were also waiting followed me. That is the only problem I see. The elevators. The rest are great.

Bechay

Visiting Tucson, Arizona

After working 6 straight nights last week, I packed and headed to Tucson, Arizona to attend the 50th birthday party of my friend, Rowena and 23rd birthday party of her son Nico. With not getting enough sleep for 6 days and being too stressed out of the driving style of my husband (he raced with other crazy motorists the entire 6.5 hours from Las Vegas), I arrived haggard at the party. Nevertheless, I had a blast! I met and saw lots (as in lots like, more or less a 100) of Filipinos, got to dance a little, and enjoyed the appetizing food.

She flew all the way from Virginia just to attend Rowena's birthday celebration.

 

 With the birthday celebrant Rowena and Almira. It was really great seeing them again! We belong to the same town back in the Philippines, they are neighbors and I live few kilometers away from their place.

Four Points by Sheraton Hotel accommodate us.The rate is very affordable. The room is not that spacious but it has a safe for my important stuff, a refrigerator and a microwave oven. It is located very close to the Tucson Airport, 8 minutes away from the venue.

I cannot find a photo of me and my husband together at the party, I guess we did not have one. That sucks! Anyhow, we drove back to Nevada State the following day.

San Francisco California Trip 2019

My daughter is based in Japan and she came home for a short vacation last March to celebrate her birthday with us. We went to San Francisco, California to see the Golden Gate Bridge and to go to the Philippine Consulate for me to apply for a Philippine Passport.

We stayed at the JW Marriot Hotel in Sutter St. The room was not spacious but it was nice.

It was a wonderful trip, stayed 1 night only though. We tried to stay for another night in the hotel but the rate went up from $200 plus per night to $370 plus tax for the second night so we decided to just check out and drove back to Nevada.

Visiting New York in Winter time is NOT a good Idea.

It was winter when I went to the Big Apple and I did not enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I am not a fan of cold weather. I mean, I love the snow but I dislike the coldness it brings.

It was December and the lights in the city were gorgeous during the night but seriously, I'd rather have stayed in the apartment we rented thru Air BnB and I'd just be in my bed keeping myself warm under a blanket than going out wearing 3 layers of clothing plus winter jacket, thick socks, boots, hat, scarf and with gloves on. I am from Northern Nevada and it gets really cold here but the coldness I experienced in New York was way different. It was freezing cold!

Hats off to the people who chose to live there. I can't. I think I would die in the winter. Seriously.

Bury's Orchard, South Bigfork, Montana

After our 7-day Alaska Cruise trip via Seattle, Washington, hubby and I made a side trip to Montana to see the Glacier National Park. On our way there, I noticed lots of signs of Cherry Orchards along side of the road. Oh, I love Cherries! I asked my husband to pull up but he was not really sure which orchard are we gonna go until he saw an arrow sign of an orchard, it was not along side of the road and I remember we had to turn right a little ways before we saw this beautiful signage of Bury's Orchard.

The place is immaculate! It is not really big but they have different varieties of cherries and they also have walnuts, raspberries, plums and grapes! Hubby talked to the lady owner while I was busy picking cherries, taking photos and videos. It was overwhelming! I couldn't remember how many cherries I ate straight from the trees. And I have no idea how much per pound but my husband said it was really cheap.

Look at the well-maintained grass, the entire yard looks like that. And that's the orchard in the other side of the truck. Everything is green and I can't take my eyes off of the cherry trees bearing incredibly beautiful fruits!

I recommend this place if you want to try Montana cherries.

My First Cruise Experience

It was amazing and hubby and I would like to do it again!

July 20-27, 2018 with Celebrity Solstice from Seattle, Washington to 3 islands in Alaska then to Victoria, Canada then back to Seattle.

 

At first I was nervous to do it because I was thinking the boat will rock and it will make me dizzy and make me puke and that is not good, right? Another thing is that I was afraid I could get diarrhea because I have heard horror stories before about a cruise line which half of the passengers got food poisoning or something like that and that is a scary thing to happen.

I made sure our passports are still valid, otherwise, we cannot get into the boat. A month before the sailing or earlier than that, we've checked in online already to get a Sea Pass, it is the version of a Boarding Pass when flying. They have a no cash policy so they need the last 4 digits of my Debit card or Credit card to get a Sea Pass then I printed our luggage tags, I printed out 6 of them in a colored ink and attached one in our suit case following the how to.

Checking in on the sailing day was very smooth since we already prepared our passports, Sea Pass and the Credit card that we used when we checked-in online. The staff was with all smiles when she handed me my key card and my husband's.

 

Going through security was very systematic and organized so it was hassle-free. 

Before entering the boat, there were photo ops and they make sure we sanitized our hands so a staff was in the front of the gangway to gave as a spray or two of Purrel sanitizer which I thought cool and a must.

The key card the lady handed to us is like an identification card, credit card, and a room key in one. The info of the muster point in case of emergency is also found in the card and I thought it was a brilliant idea.

When the boat started sailing, we heard an announcement to head to muster point as stated on the card for safety instructions and info in case of emergency. Everyone was there because no one was exempted.

We stayed in an inside stateroom which was not bad because we did not really stay there all the time as we always go out exploring the boat. They clean the room twice a day which I thought it was too much. And every afternoon, the room attendant would leave the schedule of activities for the following day. We also get information of the activities on TV.

The boat was like a floating little city minus cars. Seriously, I was in awe! What really amazed me was when I saw the sign pointing to the Dialysis center. Someone needed Dialysis could still be on the cruise, how amazing is that!

Also, they have Casino inside the ship. It was funny because I went down to the Casino twice while the ship was docked in an island and both times it was closed. I kinda wondered. Then someone explained that the Casino is only allowed to be opened when at sea because it is not legal to open when it is docked. And I was like, "Ah.. okay, hehe!"
